THE CRISIS

The stats are coming in. Research and common knowledge already shows a large majority of children and youth experienced harm to their mental health during the waves of the COVID-19 pandemic. Greater stress from social isolation, including both the cancellation of important events and the loss of in-person social interactions, was strongly associated with mental health deterioration.

In our summer and school ministries to kids words like depression, loneliness, sadness, helplessness, confusion, fear and even suicide have been used by our children. Some of our volunteers and even staff have been moved to tears by the intensity of some of these conversations. The time is NOW to RESTORE HOPE to these young ones that we are called to stand up for!

THE CALL

In all of Canada's history, if there was a time when the children need Christ and the hope of the Gospel of Christ, it is now. Ministries like CEF responds to the needs of a changing time and reposition themselves to respond to those needs. Through the mercies of God, CEF of Manitoba was still able to have in-person ministries like our summer clubs both summers of 2020 and 2021. Even at a much reduced rate, the kids that were reached were still as hungry to be fed.

In order to fulfill our goal of giving thousands of Manitoba children the opportunity to have an EPIC encounter with Jesus, we are proposing the following six objectives that will help us make that possible.

THE HOW

  • Develop DISCOVERY TIME CLUBS for Homeschoolers, After-School programs, and Churches

  • Partner with churches to adopt ministry opportunities like Discovery Time Program, Hosting 5-Day Summer Clubs for community kids, and Engaging your youth to be trained and sent out as missionaries

  • Expand our reach to Manitoba reserves in hosting 5-Day Summer Clubs

  • New Database Management Tool to manage our donor care ministry better

  • Mailbox Club – Expand and explode our reach to small communities, towns, and cities (Adult and Children Lessons)

  • Hire 2 new staff (Education Director, Discovery Time Assistant)
